Saturday: Arrival in Piedmont / LAKE VIVERONE

Arrival in Ivrea late in the morning and lunch at a restaurant.
Meeting with the guide and visit of the old town, the castle (outside), the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Bishop’s Palace and the Tower of Santo Stefano, to discover of Ivrea’s ties to Olivetti and its recognition as a 20th-century industrial city, also declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Optional delicious stop to taste the famous Torta 900 – a cake which recipe remains secret to this day: it consists of two cocoa sponge-like discs, much lighter and fluffier than regular sponge cake, filled with a delicate chocolate cream and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Departure for the nearby Lake Viverone for a relaxing catamaran cruise around the lake, passionately narrated by the captain!
Arrival at the hotel, check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Sunday: CANDELO / OROPA / End of services

Breakfast at the hotel, luggage loading and departure for the Sanctuary of Oropa, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2003. Located in the Biella Prealps at 1,159 meters above sea level, the sanctuary dates back to the 4th century, according to tradition. The Sanctuary of Oropa is dedicated to the Black Madonna, whose statue inside has been venerated since the 1300s. The sanctuary area also contains twelve chapels, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, dedicated to the life of the Madonna, each housing numerous life-size polychrome terracotta statues.
Transfer to the Ricetto of Candelo for a deeply emotional experience: walking through its cobbled streets is like breathing history, like “traveling” through the Middle Ages, discovering moments tied to a rural culture and getting lost in the magic of this unique place. Lunch.
