Piedmont: Between Langhe and Monregalese

Day 1: VICOFORTE / MONDOVÌ

Meeting in Vicoforte. Lunch at a restaurant, meeting with the guide, and visit of the monumental basilica, one of the most important in Piedmont. Its elliptical horizontal dome is the largest of its kind in the world. Stop at a chocolate shop! Transfer by bus to Mondovì, where a comfortable and modern “funicular” takes you from Mondovì Breo (the lower part of the city) to Piazza Maggiore, the heart of the upper town. Here are magnificent noble palaces, the upper and lower arcades, and the Belvedere with its ancient tower, offering a unique view of the entire Piedmontese Alpine range — an absolute must-see. Transfer to the hotel near Mondovì, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: ALBA / LANGHE

Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for Alba and meeting with the guide. Alba is the gastronomic capital of high-level cuisine, famous for its quality wines, hazelnuts, and rare white truffles. Visit of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Via Cavour, Via Maestra, and the charming little streets. Lunch at an agriturismo or restaurant, which will be followed by a scenic route through the gentle hills between castles, ancient villages, and prestigious vineyards. Stop at La Morra, “the panoramic balcony,” to admire the colors of the Langhe hills, and in Barolo, the village that gives its name to the famous wine. Photographic stop at the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, once owned by Count Camillo, the “Weaver” of the Italian Risorgimento. Visit a winery for a tasting of prestigious Langhe wines. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: SALUZZO

Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for Saluzzo. The medieval town of Saluzzo, now one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, is the birthplace of the Marquises of Saluzzo and also of Silvio Pellico. The cobblestone historic center is a maze of pedestrian streets to explore, easily visited in a few hours, with the chance to discover the main points of interest. Lunch at a restaurant. End of services.
